The quality of German education is recognised globally.
German universities are well-represented across Global University rankings and excel particularly in the fields of technology and engineering. The employment opportunities available to graduates are also significant, with many study programmes in Germany offering internships with large multinational companies as part of the course.
There are three main types of institution to choose from in Germany:
- Language schools - aimed at developing German language skills to the level required at German universities.
- State universities - offering degree courses largely in German language, with no tuition fees (only administration fees).
- Private universities - usually offering courses taught in English language, and require payment of tuition fees for study.
Recently, a UK university opened a campus in Germany, allowing students to gain qualification from a UK institution whilst based outside of the UK. This is likely to become a growing trend in the next few years.
